Flat Niamh and Flat Clara check in from Lough Swilly, County Donegal, Ireland

Well they have arrived in Buncrana, County Donegal.  Here they are checking out Lough Swilly, which is a glacial fjord-one of only three known glacial fjords in Ireland.  Lough Swilly comes from the Irish Loch Súilí, meaning "Lake of Shadows".

Our hosts sent this journal entry along:

Niamh and Clara went for a walk along the shores of Lough Swilly this evening. The locals call it the Lake of Shadows! It is here the famous Flight of the Earls took place, brave Irish men such as Red Hugh O'Donnell fled captivity from the British in 1607. The song "Amazing Grace" was composed along the shores of the Lough! It is easy to see why!

We are excited to see where Flat Niamh and Flat Clara will go and what they do on their visit. County Donegal is a unique place geographically, culturally, and historically.  Maybe they'll even pick up some Irish while they're there.
